Hello Polymer
Posted on June 6, 2022
We have a big change in the works.
In the coming days, we will be rebranding from Wrk to Polymer. We plan to make a fairly quick transition to the new brand, having it completed over the coming few days.
We are extremely excited about this opportunity. While there are, of course, a few specific reasons why we are moving away from Wrk, instead of focusing on those, we wanted to share some of our thinking in why we believe Polymer is a great fit for our product and our future.
So why Polymer?
Polymer originates from the Greek word polumeros, which means “having many parts”. In chemistry, it’s defined as “a substance that has a molecular structure consisting chiefly or entirely of a large number of similar units bonded together”.
There’s a nice metaphor in there for organizations, where individuals coordinate as teams, aligned around a shared vision and goals. By creating meaningful bonds between those within your organization, a strong, resilient structure can emerge. The strength the collective lies in the individual, and the strength of the individual lies in the collective.
Similarly, Polymer is an apt metaphor for how we think about our software and where we are headed. Our plan as a company has always been to build a suite of apps that help people organize and coordinate. Our current hiring app is just the first stop on that journey.
As we look ahead, we envision multiple applications that help simplify different facets of building an organization. They will share many similarities and core principles but each will have its own focus. As we build, a system will emerge where combinations of apps can begin to provide value greater than the sum of their parts.
Building a company, forming a community, and coordinating individuals can be a complex, messy undertaking. By providing well-designed tools that help bring order to the chaos, we feel that we can make a difference. By creating systems that bring clarity and control to how organizations function, we believe we can play a role to support success.
What to expect
A major piece of this rebrand means moving to a new domain, polymer.co. While it’s a big transition, we’re conducting it in a way that will prevent any disruptions to our current customers.
Existing links, for both the hiring app and job boards, will simply forward to the new domain. Likewise, email conversations with current candidates will seamlessly transition to being powered by new Polymer email addresses.
Ultimately, there are no additional considerations needed to be made by existing customers as the migration occurs.
To the future
Looking back over the past few years, we’re thrilled about how far we’ve come as a company and we’re so incredibly grateful for the organizations that have taken this journey with us. We have big plans and aspirations for the months and years ahead. We are absolutely thrilled to be growing with you.
We’ll be sharing more in the coming months. There’s lots on the way. Feature development continues to accelerate with the hiring app and efforts are underway for the next. It’s exciting times!
